The Grade 5 and 6 students will be participating in the Montessori Model United Nation in New York this coming February. Their county of study is the Republic of France. The students will begin preparing for this life changing experience by researching their country, learning about their topics and writing position papers. They will submit their papers to the UN headquarters. We are all anticipating an educational and inspirational experience.
Every year our Grade 3 and 6 students participate in the Provincial EQAO (Educational Quality Accountability Office) assessments. By participating in EQAO we want to ensure that our students meet the provincial expectations in reading, writing and mathematics. Last year, our students scored exceptionally high, with every student writing the test scoring the top mark of 4. We are very proud of their results.
The students are underway, writing poems and stories in their creative writing classes. We have already received some exceptionally written acrostic, cinquain, couplets and free verse poems. The students have also started their storyboards and have some very creative ideas for stories. Some of these pieces will be submitted to Polar Expressions, a nationwide writing contest. Great job Elementary students!
