Our toddler program provides a loving environment which is carefully prepared to meet the unique needs of children between the ages of 18 months to 2.5 years of age. Our classroom accommodates 15 students and has a 1:5 teacher-student ratio.
The program is a natural extension from home and allows for each child to reach his or her full potential. The nurturing and secure environment fosters independence, language, and creativity.
Toddler Curriculum
(18 months to 2.5 years of age)
Practical Life
The Practical Life area is designed to fit the toddler’s hand. It invites hand-eye coordination and assists with fine motor skills. It also helps promote independence and concentration.
Sensorial
In the Sensorial area children will learn about dimensions, shapes and colours, tactile and auditory senses through attractive and age-appropriate material.
Language
The Language material encourages conversation, builds vocabulary and provides sense of the world around them. Music and circle time are also important to language development.
Math
The Math area introduces number recognition through various materials. Number blocks, puzzles, sorting and counting are all concepts taught in this area.
Gross Motor
The gross motor area is specifically designed to allow children to explore and develop coordination and balance. The child-sized gym, a sand and water table, balancing beams, balls and other motor equipment are all important to developing their large motor skills.
Social interaction, language skills, independence, music, art and movement activities are all integral components of the Montessori Toddler experience.
